Secaucus is in the midst of a continuing development boom anchored by new or planned residential, commercial, retail shopping and entertainment developments. Plus, Secaucus benefits greatly from the tremendous development in the Meadowlands directly to the west of Secaucus.
Surrounded by the Meadowlands and on the west by the Hackensack River and on the east by the NJ Turnpike Lincoln Tunnel Extension. The town is located astride Route 3 a few miles from the Hudson River and Manhattan.
Secaucus has an exceptionally good road and rail transportation. The town is divided into four by the intersecting roads of NJ 3, which runs east and west, and the eastern spur of the New Jersey Turnpike, which runs north-south, with an interchange (16E/17) at NJ Route 3 and a new interchange 15X near the Secaucus Junction Train Station. In addition. Secaucus is directly accessible from the New Jersey Turnpike from either Exit 16W or 16E.
Secaucus has several major condo developments - the largest are Harmon Cove and Riverside Court - both on the west side of town on the Hackensack River facing the Meadowlands The rest of the housing inventory is predominately single family housing.
The town itself is known for its quiet, family atmosphere as compared to the more dense urban-type Goldcoast towns to the east like Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, West New York, Union City, Guttenberg, Cliffside Park, and Edgewater.
